Our Mission

Enable building engineers to tackle the biggest problems of society by providing high-quality, professional, and affordable computational education and credentialing.

The Problem

Traditional engineering education does not equip engineers with the computer science and coding skills they need for the constraints of contemporary construction projects. Online learning resources are not directly applicable to an engineer's workflow.

The Solution

TCE aims to solve this problem by providing educational resources to engineers for learning computer science first-principles, coding languages, and practical engineering applications of computation

Our Founder

Emidio Piermarini

Emidio a chartered structural engineer with broad experience in large-scale and complex construction projects.  Since graduating with a Masters Degree in structural engineering from MIT, he has been using engineering first-principles and computation to deliver projects from all over the world, including some of the world’s complex.

Emidio has been coding for over 10 years – having taught himself C# as an undergraduate Civil Engineering student.  He is fluent multiple programming languages, including Grasshopper and Dynamo, as well as their application to the engineering design process.

He is an early contributor to the open-source Buildings and Urban Habitat Object Model (BHoM) and believes the open-source era of AEC represents the future of our industry – design professionals who can communicate and design using code.  He is passionate about teaching younger engineers and architects computational methodologies that will help them throughout their career.  He has taught as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at Hong Kong University and guest lectured at numerous Universities.

“What engineers lack is an educational resource on how to apply computer science and coding to engineering workflows”
